The clients for this Deane Ave project wanted a low maintenance back garden. The site nestles between the Oliewenhuis garden and their own beautiful double story house with garden cottage.
Consequently, this garden is located against a hill. So it naturally presented us with a slope. We aimed to correct this by creating terraces. Terraces will additionally retain rainwater. In effect it also saves water. By installing a decorative dry river bed, we solve the storm water runoff problems too.
Furthermore, we used a variety of textures in the hard landscaping. This creates texture and interest. Different shapes of paving and pots enhance the levels in this garden. We again selected water wise plants. As a result, this garden is drought tolerant and low maintenance. It is sure to survive the utmost temperatures. The plants will compliment the grey, white and red colours.
In effect we have created a low maintenance, drought tolerant outdoor space. Additionally, it gives our clients an area to relax and entertain.
